UConn Competes at 2015 New England Championships

BOSTON ââ'¬" In its final competition prior to the NCAA pre-meet, the UConn women's cross country team competed at the annual New England Championships, held on Oct. 10 at historic Franklin Park
Sophomore Liz Lagoy was the Huskies' top finisher in the 5K race, crossing the finish line in 18:46 en route to a 59th-place finish overall. Teammate Maggie Christe checked in in 63rd with an 18:48 mark, while freshman Erica Randazzo clocked in at 19:01 on her way to an 86th-place finish.
Meredith Misretta recorded a top-100 finish with a 19:11 time, while Terra Briody notched 115th with a 19:18 finish. Emily Howard (19:35), and Hannah Fleming (20:25) also picked up top-250 results in the competition.
With the Huskies set to compete in the Pre-Nationals next weekend in Louisville, K.Y. and the American Athletic Conference Championships coming up at the end of the month, the UConn coaching staff opted to rest its top-five. As a result, many of the underclassmen will had a unique opportunity to compete on a regional stage.
UConn (423) finished 16th out of 39 teams with an average 5K time of 19:00. Boston College took home the crown with a total team score of 56.
Earlier this week, the Huskies moved up one spot in the regional USTFCCCA rankings, checking in at No. 10 in the Northeast Region.

Connecticut returns to competition on Saturday, Oct. 17 when it heads to Louisville, K.Y. to compete in the 2015 pre-NCAA meet.
