Huskies Win Thrilling 3-2 Eight Inning Contest

BOCA RATON, Fla. - In the Huskies' second game on Friday at the FAU Strike-Out Cancer Tournament Connecticut defeated the hosting Owls by a score of 3-2 in a thrilling eight inning game. UConn (4-2) outhit Florida Atlantic 6-4 with Lauren Duggan leading the way going 2-for-4 at the plate, while Emily O'Donnell and Andrea Huelsenbeck each registered a RBI on the night.
Connecticut trailed FAU 1-0 heading into the seventh inning but recorded three hits and scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Duggan kicked off the seventh inning with a single and reached home following a RBI double by O'Donnell. O'Donnell later scored on a triple by Huelsenbeck.
The Huskies went into the eighth inning and walked away with a 3-2 win as Duggan earning her first win of the season (1-0) and Katelyn Callahan earning the save. Marisa Guches scored the winning goal in the extra inning on a RBI single by Kim Silva.
The Huskies will continue the tournament on Saturday when they face Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. and Providence at 4 p.m.
