BOSTON, Mass. - Senior goaltender Alexandra Garcia (Pointe-Claire, Que.) made 41 saves for the second straight game, but once again the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team came up a goal short in a 2-1 defeat to No.9/10 Boston University, Saturday afternoon. The loss eliminated the Huskies from Hockey East playoff contention and finished their season at 4-23-7 overall and 3-15-3 in league play, while the Terriers wrapped up the league's three seed for the playoffs with records of 20-13-1 and 14-7-0.

UConn led early on a power play score by junior Kelly Horan (Methuen, Mass.), assisted by redshirt-sophomore defenseman Maggie Walsh (Bloomfield, Conn.), at the 4:28 mark of the first. It was Horan's third goal of the season and Walsh's team-leading 12^th assist.

Midway through the first, BU pulled even at 1-1 on a score by Louise Warren. The game-winning goal came at the 11:54 mark of the second when Tara Watchorn found the back of the net to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.

The Huskies, who put 14 shots on goal in the first period, managed just nine shots for the rest of the game, while Boston held a 43-23 advantage for the game.

BU goaltender Braly Hiller made 22 saves for the win in just her third start of the season.

It was the final game for Garcia and defensemen Sami Evelyn (Nepean, Ont.) and Rebecca Hewett (Oakville, Man.) in a Husky uniform.
