Seven Huskies Named 2011-12 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

STORRS, Conn.- The University of Connecticut softball team had seven Huskies selected as 2011-12 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.

Graduated seniors Ali Adelman, Amy Vaughan and Jen Ward were joined by student-assistant assistant coach Dana Hughes, redshirt senior Marissa Guches, junior Maddy Schiappa and sophomore Ashley LaPenta on the 2011-12 academic list. To be honored as a scholar-athlete the individual must achieve a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the academic year.

The Huskies will kickoff the 2012-13 campaign on February 15 at the Florida International Tournament when they face Binghamton at 11 a.m.
