UConn Continues Action At The IC4A Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team had athletes qualify for four event finals and had three top-10 finishes during day two of the IC4A Championship. Jesse Chapman placed fourth in the decathlon, while Joshua Faboyede was fourth in the hammer throw to lead the Huskies.
Chapman finished the decathlon with a fourth place finish with a total of 6, 605 points, winning the discus event on day two. Chapman recorded a season-best throw of 40.52m to win the discus, while he also had a season-best mark in the 1,500m run, placing eighth with a time of 4:50.86. He also tallied a third place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.65) and fifth place finishes in the pole vault (4.10m) and the javelin (46.09).
Faboyede had a personal-best and UConn season-best mark in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a distance of 60.63m. Mike Alleman was the third Husky to post a top-10 finish today, placing eighth in the discus with a mark of 46.32m. Eric Masington also competed in the discus event for UConn, placing 11th with a throw of 44.90m.
The 4x100m relay team of Kashif Moore, Kevin Steinberg, Darnell Cummings and Jesse Drinks were the first Huskies to qualify for the finals today, as they won their heat with a time of 41.26. The time marked the second-best time of the season, while it was also the fifth fastest time overall during the prelims.
Mike Rutt ran a UConn season-best time of 3:47.98 to qualify for the 1,500m run finals and mark the fifth fastest time overall. Darnell Cummings posted a 10.81 in the 100m dash, the seventh fastest time of the day, to qualify for the finals, while Dan Holst ran a season-best to qualify for the 800m run finals. Holst finished second in his heat and fifth overall with a time of 1:49.78.
Kyle Edmonds just missed qualifying for the finals of the 400m hurdles, as he finished ninth with a time of 52.67 and Aaron King placed 12th in the long jump event with a mark of 6.95m.
