Softball Falls at Auburn, 8-0

Storrs, Conn. - UConn softball traveled to Auburn, Ala. and fell to Auburn, 8-0. Auburn's Lauren Schmalz earned the complete game, three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. UConn fell to 5-6 on the season while Auburn improved to 18-2.
UConn's Kiki Saveriano pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six earned runs with four strikeouts and three walks. She drops to 3-4 on the year
Shmalz controlled the UConn offense throughout the game as she improved her overall record to 9-0 on the season.
UConn had three hits on the day with Julianne Towers, Kim Silva and Jennifer Ward each getting on base once.
Connecticut will be in action next with a double-header at Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. Game one begins at 2:00 p.m.
