Softball Falls To Boston University, 1-0

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's softball team hosted Boston University at the Connecticut Softball Stadium and fell, 1-0. Sophomore Kiki Saveriano pitched a complete game, allowing one home run on the day. UConn fell to 11-13 overall while BU improved to 16-8.
Saveriano pitched well enough for a victory today with just six hits allowed and four strikeouts but was matched evenly by BU starter Holly Floetker. Floetker pitched a complete-game shutout with four hits and one walk while fanning six Huskies.
Saveriano dropped to 6-9 on the season.
The lone run of the game came off a second-inning home run to left field by Megan Volpano.
UConn utilized two relays in the third inning starting from Amy Vaughan in right field to throw out runners at third and later at home to keep the score at 1-0.
Connecticut generated base runners in the fifth and sixth innings but failed to manufacture a run against Floetker who finished with 14 ground outs for BU.
UConn will host Quinnipiac for a double-header in Storrs tomorrow beginning at 3:00 p.m. Admission to all UConn softball games is free.
