Men's Basketball Takes Part In Holiday Food Drive

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's basketball players, coaches and staff took part in Coach Jim Calhoun's 13th annual food drive to help deliver turkeys and holiday fixings to needy families in the Hartford Area. Since Calhoun began his efforts in 1999, over $1.4 million has been raised to benefit Connecticut families in need.
The holiday food drive took place at the Pope Park Recreation Center and St. Monica's Episcopal Church.
Taking part in this year's food drive were; Coach Jim Calhoun, his family, coaches, players and Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra joining a team from the Hartford law firm of RisCassi and Davis, Price Chopper employees, Omar Coffee, the City of Hartford Department of Families, Children, Youth & Recreation and the City of Hartford Department of Health & Human Services.

The men's basketball team will be in action next with a 7 p.m. contest against Fairfield at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Thursday, December 22.
