Andre Drummond Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - UConn freshman center Andre Drummond has been named the Rookie of the Week, as announced today by the BIG EAST Conference. Drummond averaged 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in three games for Connecticut this past week.
Drummond led UConn to a third-place finish at the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
The Middletown, Conn. native had his best performance of the season in UConn's 78-76 overtime victory over No. 20 Florida State in the third-place game. Drummond recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with seven blocked shots and three steals.
On the season, the Preseason BIG EAST Rookie of the Year is averaging 8.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. Drummond has been a force on the offensive glass, grabbing 30 offensive rebounds in seven contests.
UConn will host Arkansas in the BIG EAST/SEC Challenge at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, November 3 at 3:15 p.m.
