Softball Inks Four Student-Athletes to National Letters of Intent

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut Head Softball Coach Karen Mullinsrecently announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2013 season. Alyson Ambler, Jacklyn Dubios, Lexi Gifford and Valerie Sadowl all signed National Letters of Intent to join the 2013 Connecticut Huskies.
Alyson Ambler |Pitcher/Utility | Walla Walla, Washington | Walla Walla High School
The four year starter for the Walla Walla Blue Devils comes to UConn as a pitcher and a utility player. In her 2011 junior season, Ambler led the Blue Devils to a Class 4A Washington State Championship and was named the 2011 Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year and the 2011 CBBN League MVP. Additionally, Ambler, a two-time Columbia Basin Big Nine Pitcher of the Year, went 6 for 11 with three home runs and a triple, and struck out 15 while pitching two shutouts, during the Blue Devils final two games of the State Championship run. Mullins thoughts on Alysom Ambler: "Alyson is expected to bolster our offensive firepower immediately as well as impact our defensive line up."
Jacklyn "Jack" Dubois |Catcher/3B | Nashua, N.H. | Bishop Guertin High School
The Huskies welcome four year varsity starter Jack Dubois, a catcher and third baseman, who led Bishop Guertin in every offensive category her freshman and sophomore years. As a captain and MVP her junior season, Dubois led the Cardinals to the Mass State Semi-Finals and was named Division I All-State First Team. Dubois is also a member of the National Honor Society and treasurer of her senior class.
Mullins thoughts on Jack Dubois: "A rock solid catcher with a cannon arm Jack will make her presence known immediately."
Lexi Gifford |Middle Infielder/Outfielder | Natick, Mass. | Natick High School
Lexi Gifford comes to UConn after being the first female in the history of Natick High School to start for three varsity sports as a freshman as she played soccer, basketball and softball. Gifford was a four year starter in high school and a member of the Polar Crush Gold summer team.
Mullins thoughts on Lexi Gifford: "Lexi's athleticism and versatility make her a great asset to our program."
Valerie Sadowl |2B/Outfield | Horsham, Penn. | Hatboro-Horsham High School
Valerie Sadowl is a three-time All-League performer at Hatboro-Horsham High School and member of TNT Gold for four years. Sadowl is the the youngest of four sisters all whom have played Division I Softball in their college careers.
Mullins thoughts on Valerie Sadowl: "Val is a smooth defender who also brings a competitive presence to every at bat."
