Jestine Angelini Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - Senior back Jestine Angelini has been honored as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. Angelini has earned the accolade three times in her career.
Angelini anchored a defense that allowed just five shots on goal in a shutout victory over Rutgers. The win clinched the outright regular-season championship for Connecticut. She helped secure the Huskies' 10th shutout of the year by making several key defensive plays. In addition to her defense, Angelini added a goal and two assists in the win.
Angelini and the UConn defense have posted seven shutouts this season and have the fifth-best goals against average nationally at 0.87.
The No. 1 seeded Huskies are back in action on Saturday, November 5 when the team squares-off against No. 4 seed Louisville in the semifinals of the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. in Syracuse.
