STORRS, Conn. - Sophomore forward Anne Jeute has been honored as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. Jeute, a 2010 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, earns the honor for the second time in her career.
Jeute scored two goals and added an assist in a 2-0 week for the Huskies, which included wins over No. 16 Boston University on Wednesday and No. 6 Syracuse on Sunday. Jeute scored the first goal of the game for the Huskies on Wednesday on a corner redirection and she scored the same way on Sunday. Jeute also assisted on Marie Elena Bolles' game-winner in double-overtime against the Orange. Jeute flipped the ball from midfield towards the goal and Bolles was able to catch up to it before it got too deep in the circle and poked it past the Syracuse keeper for the victory.
Jeute helped UConn clinch at least a share of its 12 BIG EAST Regular Season Championship since 1996. The Meerbusch, German native has scored eight goals (second on the team) while dishing out three assists this season for 19 points. Her point tally is the fourth-highest mark on the team.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday, October 28 when the team tries to wrap-up a perfect BIG EAST season against Rutgers. The Huskies enter Friday's game with a 5-0 record in league games to go along with their 15-1 overall mark.
