Huskies Drop 5-1 Decision At Dartmouth

Storrs, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey team traveled to Hanover, N.H. for a nonconference match with Dartmouth and fell, 5-1. Freshman Jordan Sims (Fortwayne, Ind.) scored UConn's lone goal tonight. Sophomore goaltender Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) made 36 stops in the losing effort. UConn drops to 7-10-3 on the season while Dartmouth, receiving votes in the latest polls, improves to 9-5-2.
Dartmouth held a commanding edge in shots in the first period, firing 14 shots on frame compared to UConn's 2. Connecticut held strong for 18 minutes until Darmouth's Doug Jones beat Bartus at 18:05 to make it 1-0 with a power-play strike.
The Connecticut defense was under pressure for most of the second period as well with Dartmouth forcing 17 saves out of Bartus in the middle stanza. The Big Green made it 2-0 at 18:56 with a goal from Alex Goodship.
Dartmouth added two goals in a 50 second stretch beginning at 15:31 of the third period to make it 4-0.
UConn finally got on the board with an unassisted goal from Sims, his eighth goal of the season. Dartmouth added an empty-net goal with 47 seconds remaining to close out the scoring at 5-1.
UConn will finish the season with all Atlantic Hockey action, beginning with a pair of contests at Robert Morris on Friday and Saturday, January 14 and 15. The puck drops at 7:05.
