Women's Tennis Concludes Day One at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team competed in day one action at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Friday in Hamden, Conn. Five UConn duos participated in doubles competition for the Huskies.
In A Doubles, Abby McKeon and Alexa Gregory defeated Sacred Heart's Gabi Kaldan and Kristina Chao 9-8 (7) before falling to Quinnipiac's Adrienne Markison and Rachel Cantor 9-8.
A pair of UConn duos will face each other in semifinal action as Lauren Wilmarth and Lucy Nutting will play against fellow teammates Marie Gargiulo and Lauren Rothermich on Saturday. Gargiulo and Rothermich started the day with an 8-1 victory over Fordham before defeating Fairfield's Caroline Emhardt and Alyssa Ruiz 8-6.
Wilmarth and Nutting took down Sacred Heart Delaney Downing and Kristin Legenza 8-2 then advanced to the next round with an 8-4 win over Quinnipiac's Lisanne Steinert and Lavania Cristescu.
Competition will continue on Saturday at Quinnipiac University beginning at 9:00 a.m.
