Smith Takes 19th In NCAA Decathlon

EUGENE, Ore. - After an outstanding senior season, University of Connecticut track and field athlete Sean Smith has finished his career with a 19th place showing in the decathlon at the NCAA Championship Friday. Smith earned 7,061 points over the course of the two day competition.
The decathlon winner was Ashton Eaton of Oregon who finished with 8,457 points.
Smith finished day two competition with a 17th place showing in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.26 seconds, a 12th place finish in the discus [38.80 meters (127-3)], 19th place in the pole vault with a height of 4.20 meters (13-9.25), a 20th place showing in the javelin with a toss of 46.51 meters (152-7) and his best showing of the weekend in the 1500 meter run, a seventh place finish in a time of 4:37.63.
Smith had the distinction of the final UConn men's track athlete competing in the 2010 season.
