Huskies Finish Competition At NCAA East Regional

GREENSBORO, N.C. - On the final day of the NCAA Track and Field East Regional, the Huskies rounded out competition with a 30th place performance in the steeplechase and a 39th place performance in the triple jump.
Will Sanders took 30th for the Huskies in the 3,000-meter race coming across in a time of 9:08.23 in his first NCAA Regional appearance. Tyrone Faverey also competed in his first East Regional finishing the triple jump with a launch of 14.80 meters (48-6.75).
After the three-day competition, two Huskies will be joining Sean Smith in Eugene, Ore. for the NCAA Championship from June 10-12. Mike Rutt and Brian Gagnon took third and sixth place respectively in the 800-meter quarterfinals on Saturday night advancing to their first NCAA Outdoor Championship.
This is the first time since 2006 that a UConn athlete has advanced to the NCAA Championship.
