Vaughan Named To All-BIG EAST Third Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - At the BIG EAST Conference softball banquet in Louisville, University of Connecticut sophomore Amy Vaughan (Somerset, Mass.) has been named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. The award is the first in her career as a Husky.
Vaughan finished BIG EAST play with a .354 batting average, playing and starting in all 22 BIG EAST games on the season. She knocked out a team best 23 hits in just 65 at bats. All of Vaughan's hits counted as the outfielder/catcher slugged .523 in BIG EAST play blasting two doubles and three homeruns while knocking in 10 runs and scoring four of her own. She was also perfect in the field in 45 chances in conference play.
Overall, Vaughan finished the season with a .280 batting average, slugging .392. She played and started in all but one game on the year, knocking out 40 hits in the form of 30 singles, seven doubles and three homeruns. Vaughan registered 22 RBIs on the year, second best on the team. In the field she made just one error in 79 chances.
