Women's Track Continues Successful Season at UConn Select Invite

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's track and field team had a successful day at the UConn Select Invite on Saturday afternoon at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Whitney Holder started things off for the Huskies earning first place in the long jump with a leap of 5.88 meters (19' 3.50"). UConn took two of the three top spots in the javelin as Emma Crowcroft finished in second place with a throw of 38.21 meters (125' 4"), while Danika Ham took third with a mark of 37.88 meters (124' 3").
UConn's 4x100 meter relay took first place with a time of 45.42, while Phylicia George dominated in the 100 meter hurdles with a first place finish in the event with a time of 13.81. Her time marks the third fastest time in school history in the 100 meter hurdles.
Leah Andrianos won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.85, marking the second-fastest time in school history as well as an NCAA qualifying mark.
The Huskies took three of the top four spots as Trisha-Ann Hawthorne won the 100 meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Mandela Graves-Fulgham also provisionally qualified with her second place finish in 11.79. Danielle Lyte took fourth place at 12.24.
Tynisha McMillian won her specialty, the shot put, with a throw of 15.45 meters (50' 8 ¼"), which is an NCAA qualifying mark. McMillian also won the discus with a mark of 47.22 meters (154' 11"), an NCAA provisional qualifying throw.
In the high jump, All-American Carin Knight won the event with a jump of 1.75 meters (5' 8 ¾) to NCAA qualify. Jasmine Cribb's mark of 1.65 meters (5' 5") put her at second place in the high jump.
Graves-Fulgham won the 200 meter dash in 23.74, which marks the third-fastest time in school history. George took second in the event at 24.17. The Huskies' 4x400 meter relay team took second place as they finished with a time of 3:54.87.
Shauna McNiff won the 5,000 meter run with a winning time of 17:34.88, which was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. UConn took the top five spots with Brittany Heninger taking second (17:36.57) and Kimberly Moran in third (17:43.34).
The Huskies picked up multiple second place finishes, as Victoria Flowers led the way in both the shot put and hammer throw. In the shot put, Flowers threw for a mark of 14.25 meters (46'9"), while she earned a mark of 54.08 meters (177'5"). Heather Wilson took second place in the 800m with a time of 2:12.69.
