BOCA RATON, Fla. - The University of Connecticut softball drops to 2-7 on the year after a 4-1 loss to Michigan State on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Fla. With the win, the Spartans improve to 7-10 this season behind a seven-hit effort over the Huskies. Jessica Arremony (Griswold, Conn.) doubled to left field, driving in the lone UConn run in the second inning.
Amy Vaughn (Somerset, Mass.) singled through the left to get on base in the second with junior Kathleen Brenneman (Cheshire, Conn.) stepping in to pinch run for the sophomore catcher. Michigan State scored two runs in the third inning with an RBI single from Jayme O'Bryant and another from Ali Grant. The Huskies escaped more damage as the Spartans left two runners on base.
