Huskies Finish 17th At IC4A Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - After two days at the IC4A Championship, the University of Connecticut men's track and field team ended with a 17th place finish after 20 events scored. Albany finished first at the meet for the second-straight season becoming the first team in 10 years to win back-to-back crowns.
Of the two Huskies that qualified for the finals in their respective events, Alex Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.) was the lone Husky to earn points on the track side of things. Bennatan finished in seventh place overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.81.
Kevin Steinberg (Langhorne, Pa.), the other Husky to qualify for day two competition on the track, took 12th place in the 55 meter dash semifinals with a time of 6.49 seconds, which ended his indoor season.
On the field side of things, Tyrone Faverey (Allentown, Pa.) added some points to the Husky total with a seventh place showing in the triple jump, launching himself 14.54 meters.
Michael Alleman (Scotch Plains, N.J.) finished the shot put in eighth place to add a point to the total. Alleman finished the day with a 16.60 meter throw.
In the heptathlon, Jake Waruch (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) was the top-finisher among Husky competitors finishing with 5,116 points after all was said an done, a season and personal best for the sophomore. His brother, Ben, ended the two-day competition in ninth place with 4,813 points while Sam Smith (Slingerlands, N.Y.) ended competition in 14th place with 4,483 total points.
The Huskies will now look to their outdoor season which begins March 27 at the Army Invitational in West Point, N.Y.
