STORRS, Conn. - Josh Ford and Tony Cascio have been named 2010 Soccer America MVPs and both earned spots on the MVP Second Team.
After being tagged with BIG EAST Conference top honors, with Ford being named Goalkeeper of the Year and Cascio being named Offensive Player of the Year, both Huskies have earned numerous accolades for their efforts in 2010.
Cascio was most recently named to the NSCAA/Performance Subaru Men's NCAA Division I All-America First Team, while Ford was tagged with Third Team honors. Both Huskies were named College Soccer News First Team All-Americans as they also picked up NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team honors.
Cascio, who was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, led UConn with 26 points on the year, including a team-best 10 goals. He added six assists for the Huskies.
Ford earned 11 shutouts in 2010 en route to finishing his career at UConn with 50 career shutouts, 54 wins and 85 consecutive starts, all program bests.
Ford will participate in the MLS Combine in January and will await the MLS SuperDraft, which will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 in Baltimore at the Baltimore Convention Center.
