Kacey Richards Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

STORRS, Conn. - Senior defender Kacey Richards (Williamstown, N.J.) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, it was announced today by the BIG EAST Conference. Richards, one of four UConn captains, led the Huskies to a 1-1 tie against No. 4 Notre Dame on Friday, October 15. Richards turned around and added an assist on the game-winning goal in UConn's 3-1 victory over DePaul on Senior Day on Sunday, October 15.
Richards made the move to the back line as a junior and has been the anchor for the UConn defense. The starting center back has played in every minute of every game as a senior. The assist on Sunday was her second of the season. Richards has been a member of the All-BIG EAST Team in every season of her career. She was a member of the All-BIG EAST Third Teams in 2007 and 2009 and an All-BIG EAST Second-Team selection in 2008.
UConn is in action next when it travels to Pittsburgh and West Virginia to close out the regular season. UConn will face West Virginia on Friday, October 22 at 7 p.m. before finishing the regular season with a 1 p.m. contest against Pittsburgh. UConn owns a record of 8-6-3 (4-6-2 BIG EAST) and sits tied for third place in the BIG EAST American Division with USF. UConn defeated South Florida, 3-0, on October 10 in Storrs.
