We rested the top-eight in preparation for the big Championship meets to come but I still had some questions as to who our ninth runner would be for the BIG EAST so this meet came at a really good time for those athletes to try to step up. Senior Brittany Heninger definitely solidified that spot with her performance and will travel with the squad to Syracuse in two weeks." Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough ![]() ![]() |
The Huskies were fresh off a second-place finish at the New England Championships. The second-place finish marked a program best.
UConn's five student-athletes ran as a team with the five competitors finishing 16 seconds apart. UConn was led by Heninger's 25th placing. Junior Christine Vogel (Glastonbury, Conn.) placed 26th (18:51.8) with sophomore Allison Cooper (Portland, Conn.) right behind in 27th (18:52.8).
Sophomore Jeanne Theleen (Southbury, Conn.) finished in 29th (18:54.1), seven seconds in front of freshman Cassondra Hunter (Preston, Conn.) who placed 30th.
Brown's Margaret Connelly took the individual title, finishing with a time of 17:27.1.
The Huskies will be in action next when they compete at the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. on Saturday, October 23.
