Huskies Fall To Louisville, 3-0

STORRS, Conn.- The University of Connecticut volleyball team struggled to get their offense going this evening with only six players combining for 24 kills, dropping their second-straight BIG EAST match to Louisville, 3-0.
Set scores were 21-25, 11-25, 12-25.
UConn's strongest performance of the night came during the opening set, battling the Cardinals all the way until the end. Jordan Kirk (Plano, Texas) was able to break Louisville when they were at set point, 24-20 with her third kill of the night, but the Cardinals finished strong to take the set, 25-21.
Allison Nickel (Pittsford, N.Y.) had a set-high four kills during set one, with Kirk adding three, while Kelsey Maving (Tonawanda, N.Y.) had a set-high seven digs.
The Cardinals took control of the match after that, winning the next two sets, 25-11 and 25-12.
Rebecca Murray (Carmel, Ind.) led the UConn offense, recording six kills and two service aces on the night while Nickel and Kirk each added five kills.
Murray's first service ace in the opening set marked the 10th consecutive match that she has recorded an ace, and she leads the team with 25 aces this season.
Morgan Freeman (Virginia Beach, Va.) had four kills and a block assist for the Huskies, while Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) added four kills and Jackie Wattles (Liberty Hill, Texas) tallied one.
Angela Roidt (McFarland, Wis.) tallied 18 of UConn's 22 assists and Maving led the defense with 13 digs, marking the 12th match that she has posted 13 or more digs.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday (Oct. 3) when they host BIG EAST opponent Cincinnati in a 1:00 p.m. match at Gampel Pavilion.
