4x100 Relay Breaks School Record

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of Connecticut women's 4x100 relay broke the school record with a time of 44.42 in Friday's preliminaries as they advance to the finals on Saturday afternoon as part of the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship in Greensboro, N.C. this weekend.
This is the first time in program history that the 4x100 meter relay team has advanced to the finals in the regional competition. The relay, consisting of Jessica Foreman, Trisha-Ann Hawthorne, Phylicia George and Monique Hodges, currently holds the fifth fastest time heading into the Saturday afternoon finals.
Hawthorne also dominated on Friday as well, winning her preliminary heat in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.44. She also advanced into the finals in the 200 meter dash with a preliminary time of 23.40.
The 4x100 relay will compete in Saturday's finals at 5:00 p.m. (EST), while Hawthorne will compete in the 100 and 200 meter dash at 6:05 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Senior Amanda Martin and freshman Danika Ham will kick off Saturday's competition as they will compete in the javelin beginning at 11:00 a.m. Two-time All-American Carin Knight will show her best performance in the high jump, which is also set for 5:00 p.m.
