Huskies To Host UConn Spring Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - This Saturday, April 18, the University of Connecticut track and field squads will host their final home meet of the season at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. The UConn Spring Invitational will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until approximately 5:00 p.m.
The men will begin first this meet with field events starting at 10:00 a.m. The 3000-meter steeplechase will start off the day's track festivities. The men's part of the meet will conclude around 2:00 p.m. after the running of the 4x400-meter relay.
Taking part in the meet on the men's side of things are Boston University, Quinnipiac, Brown and UConn as well as assorted open athletes. The men's meet will be scored.
The women's meet will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the javelin. Track heats will start when the men have finalized their meet. Before the steeplechase, the first track event of the day, the seniors on the UConn women's track and field team will be honored in a short presentation after the day's events end around 5:00 p.m.
That group of seniors includes Jessica Foreman, Monique Hodges, Amanda Martin, Jessica White, Vicki Weismann, Kate Vaughan, Keelan King, Rebecca McCollum, Ashley O'Brien and Rachael Porter.
Participating in the women's meet are athletes from Central Connecticut, Rhode Island, Brown, Boston University, Fairfield, Quinnipiac and UConn. The women's meet will not be scored.
