Men's Track Takes Home Four Titles From Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Part of the University of Connecticut men's track team competed at the Brown Invitational this weekend bringing home four titles after competing in just eight events at the meet. Despite not participating in every event, the Huskies still managed to end up in third place out of the seven teams that competed.
Freshman Tim Bennatan (Lake Forest, Ill.) brought home the title in the 800m Run with a time of 1:56.20, classmate Rachid Sofiane (Wallingford, Conn.) finished just behind Bennatan in eighth place with a time of 1:58.16.
In the hurdling events, freshman Jim Kehrer (Albany, N.Y.) also finished in first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.09. Kehrer took second in the 400m IH coming in at 59.71 while freshman Chris Tomori (Chesterfield, N.J.) took home the title finishing in 56.95.
On the field side of things, freshman Jeff Foster (East Lyme, Conn.) was the only Husky to finish in first. Foster took the title in the javelin throwing a distance of 56.36m (184-11).
Freshman Matt Alexander (Tolland, Conn.) had the next best finish in the pole vault as he finished second with a height of 4.75m (15-7). In the long jump, Tyrone Faverey (Allentown, Pa.) took home third with his leap of 6.13m (20-1.5).
The Huskies are back in action on their home turf this weekend when they host the UConn Spring Invitational that will take place on April 18.
