WALTHAM, Mass. (November 7, 2008) - A lone Bentley goal during the first period proved to be the game winner when the University of Connecticut men's hockey team traveled to Waltham for their first Atlantic Hockey game on the road during the 2008-09 season. The Huskies record dropped to 2-5-0, 2-1-0 Atlantic Hockey while Bentley won their first Atlantic Hockey game of the season.
Bentley's Jeff Gumaer, with some help from Aaron Stonacek, put the power play goal past sophomore Brad McInnis (Anchorage, Alaska) at 12:45 in the first. McInnis buckled down and didn't allow any more goals for the rest of the night snatching 28 saves. But Bentley goalie Joe Calvi saved all 24 of the shots fired at him shutting out the Huskies.
UConn pulled McInnis during the final minute and a half of the game to try and even the score but they were unable to tie the game up and Bentley took the decision 1-0.
The Huskies are back in action on Tuesday, November 11 against Yale for their first ever game at home against the Bulldogs at Mark E. Freitas Ice Forum. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m.
