Connecticut Head Coach Jim Calhoun
"I have no explanation for how we played. It's a continuation of the other night, except we played 10 minutes where Sticks turned it on."
"Giving all respect to the kids from Colgate, who really worked their butts off and played hard, but from a talent level....We're shooting 54 percent. "It must be the blocked shots, Coach.' We're averaging exactly the same we did at this point last year - 7.5 after two games. It's not blocked shots. It's getting pushed around by 6-4 kids, 6-2 kids, 6-1 kids. And taking it."
"We face Hofstra tomorrow night. If we want to get to New York, we'll find out tomorrow night."
"We've got some guys who should be able to rebound who continue not to do that."
"We played in a few bursts. If we do that tomorrow night, we will not be going to New York."
"Stanley could have had 50 tonight. I'm not nit-picking. That 10 minutes was magnificent. He told me it wasn't his kind of night to shoot the ball. It looked like it was when he did shoot the ball."
"The press gave us a lot, but then we wouldn't rotate back."
"We're not playing with a sense of urgency. This is not the same team that played two exhibition games, not the same team that I coached. It stopped right after we beat Lowell. It's just not the same team."
"We're not playing with any kind of urgency, we're not playing with any kind of toughness. I tried not to be over-critical with the kids, particularly during the first half. That really worked well."
Kemba Walker
"We didn't play well defensively (in the first half). I think they made some pretty tough shots."
"We kind of adjusted at halftime. It made it easier for us."
"(At the half) we all got together and said "we have to get it going."
Jamaal Coombs-McDaniel "I felt a lot more comfortable tonight. I was more focused coming in."
On defending Colgate's Kyle Roemer.
"He's a good player, not super fast. He knows how to play. I was just trying to keep him from getting to the middle."
Stanley Robinson
On taking over the game in the second half
"I thought about what I was doing in the workout drills and what I was doing in practice, and I just took it over into the game."
"We are doing too good...We have to get it together. We have to play team basketball. As of right now, we're not playing to our capabilities. We're not doing what we're supposed to be doing."
"We just picked it up. Coach Calhoun got on us a lot. We got on a roll. I started getting tip-dunks and Kemba started shooting more shots."
What is Coach Calhoun getting on you about?
"I think it's everything with Coach Calhoun. If he sees a great player, he's going to be on them the whole time. That's what he's been telling me. He just wants me to do right. I'm going to listen to him and go off that."
Gavin Edwards
On the pressing defense
"It got sloppy at times but, I think it was good when we were clicking on it."
Are you surprised they rebounded so well against you?
"I'm kind of surprised, but we're not really playing the way we're supposed to. And if you're not playing the way you're supposed to, then it's not just going to get handed to you."
What will you have to do against Hofstra to get to New York?
"We'll definitely have to rebound. We've been struggling with that the last couple of games."
