Ruutu Named BIG EAST Rookie Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After her two goal performance against Notre Dame and DePaul, University of Connecticut freshman Linda Ruutu (Espoo, Finland) has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the week of October 19.
This is the second ROW honor for the freshman and her third BIG EAST honor overall as she was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll during the week of September 14.
Ruutu scored the Huskies lone goal in the 6-1 decision at then-No. 7/8 Notre Dame on October 16. She continued on her goal scoring streak recording the first goal of the game against DePaul on Sunday.
Ruutu and the Huskies are back in action this Friday, October 23 when they take on West Virginia under the lights at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The game will be shown on tape-delay on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. on COX Television.
