STORRS Conn. (June 4, 2008) - For the second consecutive season, Easton Sports has named University of Connecticut junior softball player Micah Truax (South Glen Falls, N.Y.) to one of its All-American teams. Truax was named a second team All-American on Wednesday. She made the third team in 2007.
Truax had another fine season for the Huskies as she earned BIG EAST Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row. She was the team's third leading hitter with a .338 batting average. She also had seven home runs, 23 RBI, 30 runs scored and a .565 slugging percentage. Truax broke the all-time career home run record for UConn on April 3. She now has 25 career home runs in three seasons, which is five more than any other Husky.
UConn finished the season 28-22 and was 13-7 in the BIG EAST. The team reached the BIG EAST semifinals for the first time since 2001 and its 28 wins was the most since that same campaign.
