Men's Track and Field Hosts Annual Alumni Invitational

STORRS, Conn. (April 2, 2008) - The University of Connecticut men's track and field team hosts the first of two home meets this season with the annual UConn Alumni Invitational beginning Thursday. This non-team scoring event will feature a decathlon on Thursday and Friday followed by the main competition on Saturday. All events will take place at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
The Huskies will have several area schools with representatives at this meet. Sacred Heart, Brown, Massachusetts, Hartford, Harvard and Central Connecticut will be fielding teams this weekend.
"We will be fielding just about everyone this weekend for the first time during the outdoor season," said head coach Greg Roy. "It is another good test to help us prepare for the BIG EAST Championship."
The decathlon will get under way at noon each day on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, field events will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. and track events at around 2:00 p.m. A complete schedule of the meet can be found at the link at the top of the page, and the start times could be affected by the women's meet which takes place beforehand.
