Micah Truax Wins BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 14, 2008) - The BIG EAST conference office named University of Connecticut junior outfielder Micah Truax (South Glen Falls, N.Y.) the BIG EAST Player of the Week. She hit .556 (10-for-18) with one home run, three RBI and three runs scored in six games last week.
Truax had at least one hit in every game, and recorded two hits in four of the six games. In a doubleheader against St. John's last Saturday, she hit the game winning double in the bottom of the seventh in the first game, and followed that up with her 22nd career home run in the second game. She also had four doubles and four stolen bases to complete her strong week.
This is the second time Truax has been named BIG EAST player of the week as she earned the honor once last season. She is also the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year. She is currently hitting .320 with four runs, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored on the season.
UConn returns to action this Tuesday, April 15 when they host Quinnipiac at 3:30 p.m. The game will be taped for Cox Sports Television and shown on a tape delay basis on Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m.
