Freshmen Lead Golf at Thunderbird Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. (April 11, 2008)-- University of Connecticut freshmen Chris DeLucia and Matt Dubrowski shot 73 and 74 respectively Friday to lead the Huskies in day one of action at the Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Arizona State University, at the Karsten Golf Course.
Arizona State fielded two teams in the 16-team field and the Sun Devil squads were tied for the lead after the first day of action at five-under par 279, one shot clear of Colorado State University. The Huskies stand in 15th place in the team standings after shooting a 300 on day one.
Braxton Marquez of Arizona State and Kyle Nielsen of New Mexico are tied for the individual lead after carding a score of 66 in action Friday. DeLucia's 73 is good for a tie for 33rd place overall and Dubrowski stands in a tie for 41st place in the field.
The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday with action beginning at 10:00 a.m. eastern time.
