Huskies Finish Sixth at the 43-Team NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 21, 2008)-- The University of Connecticut men's golf team finished in sixth place in the 43-team field of the 73rd Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship, hosted by Salem State College and held at the Captain's Course.
UConn finished the championship with a score of 619 as sophomore Matt Dubrowski shot a 77 on the first day of competition followed by a 75 on day two to put him into a tie for 15th place. Jeb Buchanan shot a 73 in his second outing to bring him up to 30th place tie.
Sacred Heart University led the field with a score of 302 on day one but Bryant University put together a score of 291 on day two to take the championship title with total score of 604.
Matt Belizze of Sacred Heart shot a 76 followed by a 71 to win the championship as he beat out both teammate Pat Fillian and Bryant's Alex Daley on a playoff hole.
