Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. (September 23, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team finished play at the Quinnipiac Invitational Sunday, capturing one doubles and one singles title.
Freshman Megan Doran (Brigantine, N.J.) and junior Alison Koch (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) won the doubles group "B" competition. They defeated Limsiaco and Medonza of Army 8-3.
Sophomore Allison Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) captured the group "C" singles title by defeating a couple of her teammates. In the semifinals she defeated freshman Katie Moritz (York, Pa.) 6-1, 6-3. After Doran then defeated Limsiaco of Army 6-2, 6-2 to join her in the finals, Campitiello defeated Doran 6-4, 6-4 to win the title.
In singles play group "B", senior Jessica Porter (Duluth, Ga.) dropped her semifinal match 4-6, 4-6 to Rhode Island's Christen Cadigan. In group "D" singles, Koch also fell in her semifinal match to Jurelle Mendoza of Army 5-7, 1-6.
The women's tennis team returns to action this Wednesday, when they face the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. at 2:30 p.m.
