Golf Finishes in Tenth Place at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (September 22, 2007)-- The University of Connecticut golf team shot a three-round total of 872 to conclude final round play Saturday in tenth place in the 18-team field at The McLaughlin, hosted by St. John's University on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park.
The University of West Florida edged out St. John's for the team championship, shooting 830 to the Red Storm's 832 total. Kyle Scott of West Florida shot a ten-under total of 200 to take the individual medalist honors by five strokes.
Senior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) and junior L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) each finished among a group of six players that tied for 14th place in the individual standings. Tosches shot a 70 on Saturday and Travalja a 72 as both players totaled 213 for the three rounds. Junior Tim Strout (Nashua, N.H.) finished in a tie for 54th place at 222, while freshman Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.) shot a 226 to tie for 69th. Freshman Mike Gunderson (Duxbury, Mass.) shot a 229 and tied for 78th. Senior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) competed as an individual this weekend and finished in a tie for 44th place at 220.
The Huskies return to action Tuesday, September 25 when they start action in the Adams Cup, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Newport National G.C. in Middletown, R.I.
