Women's Tennis Action Begins at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. (September 21, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team began its weekend play at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Friday afternoon in Hamden, Conn.
Freshman Megan Doron (Brigantine, N.J.) and junior Alison Koch (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) will be moving on into the next round of "Doubles B" group play on Saturday, after they defeated both Hoover and Tipirneni of URI (8-2) and El-Tobgy and Cho from Seton Hall (8-2). The two Huskies will take on Verano and Hong from Army who slipped past UConn's Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Katie Moritz (York, Pa.) in the second round of play.
In singles play, Jenny Marotta (Nesconset, N.Y.) will take on Ali Warshavsky from Quinnipiac on Saturday while teammate Koch will face Slovina Kaplanska from Seton Hall.
The Huskies will compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational for the remainder of the weekend as they continue play on Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m.
