Women's Tennis Action Continues At Army Invitational

WEST POINT, N.Y. (September 15, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team continued play at the Army Invitational with five Huskies participating in main draw quarterfinal play.
Megan Doran (Brigantine, N.J.) fell to Duquesne's Zena Williams, 1-6, 3-6, in #4 singles after receiving a walkover in the first round and then besting her Round of 16 opponent, Pittsburgh's Christine D'Achille, 7-5, 6-4.
Two doubles pairs also played in quarterfinal action. BreAnn Cheung (Tuscon, Ariz.) and Katie Moritz (York, Pa.) had the fourth seed in Flight One, but fell to Howards's Courtney Dorsey and Laura Marin, 3-8.
In #2 doubles, Ali Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) and Alison Koch (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) were defeated by Rutgers' Katherine Ariak and Christine Tran.
Three back draws were created from players that were already eliminated from the main draw: Survivor Saturday, Battle at Buckner and Lichtenberg Doubles. Kelly LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) advanced to the semifinals of Survivor Saturday (A) with an 8-1 win over her quarterfinal opponent.
Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) competed in the Survivor Saturday (B) draw and also advanced to the semifinals with an 8-0 win.
The Army Invitational will conclude Sunday with championship match play in all flights.
