Swimming and Diving Name Captains for 2007-08
STORRS, Conn. (May 10, 2007) – The University of Connecticut Swimming and Diving program announced their captains for the 2007-08 season.
The men will be led by the senior trio of Mike Brocki (Westhampton, N.Y.), Tod Pesses (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Ryan Thompson (Branford, Conn.). While the diving program will be led by senior Mike Clifford (West Islip, N.Y.).
"Brocki, Pesses and Thompson have large shoes to fill with the graduation of last year’s captains. They were strong choices of the team however and I am sure will rise to the challenge." said head coach Bob Goldberg. "Mike Clifford returning as our diving captain is another big plus."
Senior Courtney Haney (Mesa, Ariz.) will join Sarah Kearns (Milford, Mass.), Andrea Ryan (Davenport, Iowa), Kelly Recupero (Stratford, Conn.) to captain the women in 2007-08.
"Having three returning captains (Kearns, Ryan and Recupero) with their experience will enable us to move ahead in our team goals at the conference meet and national competition." Goldberg said. "Adding Courtney Haney, a very popular choice, will only strengthen the program.”
