Jason Parajeckas Wins Yale Spring Golf Open

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 8, 2007)-- University of Connecticut senior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) shot a one-over par 71 for the second straight day to capture individual medalist honors Sunday at the Yale Men's Spring Golf Open at the Yale University Golf Course.
The Huskies finished with a team total of 602 for the two-day tourney, good for a tie for fourth place with Brown University. The University of Hartford defeated Johnson & Wales-Fla. in a playoff to capture the team championship. Both teams totaled 597 for the two days. Yale finished third at 598.
Parajeckas' total of 142 was good for a one shot victory over David Vanegas of Johnson & Wales. This is the fifth career individual title for Parajeckas and gives him three top five finishes in three starts this spring. He finished tied for second at the Treasure Coast Classic and tied for fourth at the George Washington Invitational.
Junior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) shot a 73 Sunday to climb into a tie for 11th place overall with a total of 150. Junior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) tied for 24th place at 154, while sophomores Bret Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) and L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.) finished tied for 37th and 41st respectively.
The Huskies return to action April 14-15 when they compete in the New England Division I Championship at Triggs Memorial G.C. in Providence, R.I.
