Men's Track And Field Completes Competition At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 28, 2007) — The University of Connecticut men's track and field team put the finishing touches on its competition in the Penn Relays Saturday afternoon.
In the 110-meter hurdles, senior Basil Campbell (Ewing, N.J.) placed 29th with a time of 16.76. In the 4x400 meter relay, the UConn 'A' Team placed 22nd with a time of 3.14.20.
UConn's 4x800 meter relay team of Steven Iannaccone (Tom's River, N.J.), Max Feldman (Easton, Conn.), Michael Rutt (Sinking Springs, Pa.) and Brian Gagnon (Lowell, Mass.) in the championships of America placed 11th with a time of 7:32.78.
In the college 4x400 meter relay, the Husky team composed of Troy Rochester (Danbury, Conn.), David Stephens (Mansfield, Conn.) Basil Campbell and Edwin Campbell (Silver Spring, Md.) took second with a time of 3:12.73.
In field events, senior Daniel Hutcherson (New London, Conn.) finished second with a height of 2.04 meters in the eastern high jump. Not far behind, sophomore Marquis Thomas (Mattapan, Mass.) took fourth with a height of 2.00 meters.
Sophomore Andrew Dubs (Holland, Pa.) turned in a seventh place showing in the shot put championships with a distance of 15.64 meters. In the eastern long jump, sophomore Anthony Pomo (Saddle Brook, N.J.) finished 17th with a distance of 6.90 meters.
Junior Museveni Akanno (Linden, N.J.) placed fourth in the eastern triple jump with a height of 14.33 meters. In the college hammer throw, senior Aaron Isaacs (Danbury, Conn.) took eighth with a distance of 57.04.
UConn returns to action May 4-6 when the Huskies host the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships for the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex.
