Women's Tennis Makes Clean Sweep of Fairfield 7-0

STORRS, Conn. (March 29, 2007) - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team won every match en route to a clean sweep of Fairfield 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Connecticut Tennis Courts.
Senior Christine Burek (Wheaton, Ill.) defeated Paulina Rys 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 while freshman Kelley LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) took down Lauren Bonanno at No. 2 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3, junior Jess Porter (Duluth, Ga.) was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Alexis Accomando while sophomore Breann Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) won a 6-0, 6-3 match over Gabriela Davila.
At No. 5 singles, freshman Alli Campitiello (New York, N.Y.) easily won over Courtney Price 6-1, 6-1. Senior Ashley Petruzzi (Bradenton, Fla.) took down Gretchen Amberg 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.
In doubles, senior Liz Dibbs (Allentown, Pa.) and Burek defeated Rys/Taylor 8-2 at No. 1. LoRusso and Campitiello were 8-3 winners at No. 2 over Accomando/Bonanno while at No. 3, Porter and Cheung teamed up for a win over Davila/Price, 8-0.
