Meghan Schnur Named to Academic All-District Second Team

STORRS, Conn. (November 1, 2007) - University of Connecticut women's soccer senior Meghan Schnur was named to the ESPN the Magazine District I Academic All-America second team by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. This is her first academic award from CoSIDA, however she has was named to the NSCAA/Adidas Women's Scholar All-America team in 2006.
Schnur leads the team with 17 points (five goals, seven assists) on the season. She is tied for 20th on the Husky career list with 66 points. She is also tied for 11th with 27 career assists. She has a 3.31 GPA while majoring in physical therapy.
With their second place finish in the American Division of the BIG EAST Conference, UConn earned a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament that began on Thursday. The Huskies will host the third place team from the National Division, the Georgetown Hoyas in a quarterfinal match next Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
