Huskies and Travalja Finish Second at New England Golf

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 23, 2007)-- University of Connecticut senior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) finished in second place in the individual standings and was the top Division I individual finisher to lead the Husky golf team to a second place finish after the final round Tuesday of the 2007 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship at Port Captains/Starboard Golf Course.
Travalja shot a three-over par total of 147 for the two-day, 42-team tournament. He finished three shots behind individual medalist Brian Cawley of Salem State. Travalja now has three straight top ten finishes this fall for the Huskies.
The Huskies finished eight shots behind the team champion University of Rhode Island.
Freshman Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.Y.) was the next best UConn finisher, shooting a career-best 74 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 18th place overall.
The Huskies will conclude the 2007 fall campaign when they travel to Orlando, Fla. for the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge at the Grand Cypress Resort on Monday-Tuesday, October 29-30.
