Men's Track Concludes Competition At NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 8, 2006) - Junior Sean Berg (Mystic, Conn.) finished 18th in the decathlon with a total of 6069 points as the University of Connecticut men's track and field team wrapped up its competition at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Berg, in his first NCAA Championships appearance, began day two by placing 14th in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.42 seconds. He was 12th in the discus with a 38.54 meter throw, 15th in the pole vault by clearing 4.10 meters and 12th in the javelin with a 50.67 meter toss. Berg did not finish the 1500 meter run which caps the 10-discipline event.
During Wednesday's opening day of competition in the decathlon, Berg ran the 100m portion of the decathlon in a time of 11.42 seconds and followed that with a 6.36m showing in the long jump. He threw the shot put 11.37m and had a height of 1.83m in the high jump portion of the competition. In his final event of the opening day, Berg ran a personal-best time of 51.77 seconds in the 400m run.
