WAKEFIELD, Mass. (June 14, 2006) - Five members of the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team were named to the 2005-06 Women's Hockey East All-Academic Team this week. Seniors Janelle Armitage (Kinsella, Alberta) and Jennifer Houlden (Richmond Hill, Ontario), juniors Alicia Ramolla (Barrie, Ontario) and Natalie Vibert (Thunder Bay, Ontario) and sophomore Josette Severyn (Hollywood, Fla.) were among the 65 individuals that qualified for the team.
Members of the eight teams that comprise the conference can qualify for the All-Academic Team if they achieve a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher in each of the two academic periods in which the individual was competing.
Armitage, in addition to making the squad this year, was also honored as a Distinguished Scholar by Hockey East. She posted a 3.0 GPA or higher in each semester throughout her four seasons as a Husky. It was Houlden's third appointment to the team, the second for Severyn and Vibert and the first for Ramolla.
