Men's Track Wraps Up First Day At NCAA Regionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. (May 26, 2006) - Junior Jake Radzevich (Hampstead, N.H.) finished ninth in the pole vault and senior Joel Legare (Holden, Mass.) advanced to the finals of the 800m run as members of the University of Connecticut men's track and field team completed competition at the NCAA Regional Meet, held at North Carolina A&T.
Radzevich finished in ninth position with a height of 5.06m in the finals of the pole vault. He was the lone Husky to compete in the event. Legare will compete in Saturday's 800m final after qualifying second in a time of 1:49.17.
Also competing for the Huskies on Friday were freshman Matt Tift in the long jump and junior Basil Campbell (Ewing, N.J.) in the 110m hurdles. Tift fouled in all three of his attempts in the preliminaries while Campbell, the reigning BIG EAST champion in the 110m hurdles, finished the preliminaries with a time of 14.18 seconds, missing out on advancing to the finals.
The NCAA Regionals will wrap up on Saturday, with events beginning at 11:00 a.m. and running through 8:50 p.m.
