Gendron Named To NFCA All-Region First Team

STORRS, Conn. (May 17, 2006) - Sophomore Allie Gendron (Ahmerst, Mass.) was named to the Northeast All-Region First-Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as announced on Wednesday. It is the first NFCA honor for the designated player, who also received second team All-BIG EAST honors for her play during the season.
In her second season in a UConn uniform, Gendron led the Huskies in three offensive categories. Her .362 batting average in 138 at bats was tops on the team, as were her 50 hits. She also led the team with 15 doubles while scoring 19 runs and driving in 22 runs.
The Huskies closed out the 2006 BIG EAST season with a 6-14 record and were 19-19 overall on the season.
