Women's Cross Country Earns All-Academic Honor

STORRS, Conn. (April 20, 2006) - The University of Connecticut women's cross country team was recognized as an All-Academic Cross Country team for this third consecutive year. The criteria for this award state that the team must compete in a regional qualifying meet, each athlete's cumulative grade point average must be represented and that the team GPA must be 3.0 or better.
"I am absolutely elated with the news of our team achieving such an honor, said Head Coach Bill Morgan. "It truly is a testament to their academic focus and the efforts of their advisor, John Miceli, and professors. Distance coach, Kim McGreevy, along with the entire staff, continues to promote the highest standards consistent with the meaning of an outstanding University of Connecticut student-athlete. This award is another proud moment for our team."
The members of the cross country team that helped to earn this recognition are Allison Croft (Ellington, Conn.), Niamh Cunningham (Branford, Conn.), Orlaith Cunningham (Branford, Conn.), Keelan King (Scotia, N.Y.), Taylor Lebovich (Old Tappan, N.J.), Emily Lewek (Scotia, N.Y.), Rebecca McCollum (Monroe, Conn.), Melanie Murphy (Newtown, Conn.), Cara Reardon (Northborough, Mass.) Rachel Rome (Morristown, N.J.), Erin Sales (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Jillian Sullivan (Bristol, Conn.), Kate Vaughan (Bethel Park, Pa.), Julie Vilord (Suffern, N.Y.) and Vicki Weismann (Rutland, Mass.).
